Relief India Trust | Enhancing Better Quality Of Life

We have a number of people in the society facing hard times due to their inability to deal with the situations facing them. This may be as a result of poverty, underage or physical disability. For that reason, the concerned individuals are either oppressed or not capable to live their lives as deserved of any human being in the society. It is hard for such groups to ensure a better future for themselves or to their children who depends on them. It is humanly that the privileged members of society extend a helping hand to such groups in society to help them to live up to their dreams and expectations.

India is one such country where poverty has stricken a very large group of the society, with a lot of children dropping out of school to help their needy families at least put something on the table at the end of the day. This has resulted in early child labor where they are subjected to harsh working conditions under individuals who do not care about their well being. The women in the society on the other hand are facing tough times due to the fact that they are considered as the ‘weaker section’. Physically disabled on the other hand are faced with tough times without people volunteering to help them. The only remedy for such problems facing specific groups of society is community mobilization where the privileged members in the society extend a helping hand to the affected individuals so that they also live a better life.

Relief India Trust is a nongovernmental organization whose main objective is to see all members of society live in harmony and in better conditions. We help members of society with disabilities, young children without the support and the poor who have no means to sustain their lives comfortably. Through our various activities in different sectors such as community participation, education, environmental protection among others, we have effectively helped a large group of individuals sustain their lives in a better quality way.

Objectives of the Organization
We are mainly concerned about children and the environment the reason why we go an extra mile to ensure that schools have been set up for the poor and disabled children to attend for free. Poverty is a disease whose only remedy is education. We have decided to put the children’s education on the priority list so that they can learn life time skills to enable them acquire jobs in the future and from that they can sustain themselves and their families. There are actually many child labor turned students reported every here so as to help their families in adding their daily income to sustain their lives. Our goal is to ensure such children get enrolled back to school at different levels according to their age so that they can learn various skills and gain knowledge that will enable them secure better job opportunities.

As earlier mentioned, promotion of the environment is also our primary goal. We do participate in various activities that ensure better environmental protection such as tree planting and cleaning of the environment.

People’s development through continued participation in networks and campaigns is all that the Relief India Trust is fighting for so that the disadvantaged members of society can also experience the better side of life. We fight for children's rights, enhance their education and take part in participatory governance to help the society at large without forgetting management of community’s natural resources.

The NGOs are known to play extremely critical role in different segments of disaster management and in eliminating the risk of any further disaster. Several times, it has been noted that the NGOs fail to achieve their goals in the occurrence of any disaster. It is mainly due to the reason that NGOs lack coordination with different stakeholders. These stakeholders can be the state government with their machinery resource which can be an extremely critical resource in a disaster occurrence. The need is to have effective communication among all the stakeholders, especially the state government for efficient disaster management and reconciliation process. The Relief IndiaTrust has always been up to the mark meeting all its stakeholders’ requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities of NGOs in Disaster Management:
The Relief India Trust with its powerful set of resources has always proved to be very efficient in managing and facilitating the affected people in all kinds of disasters, including earthquake, fire, floods, etc. Following are some of the roles and responsibilities which Relief IndiaTrust always fulfills to encounter any unseen disaster or acting promptly in case of a disaster occurrence:
·        NGOs are required to analyze the basic needs of the affected people in case of any kind of disaster.
·        The disaster preparedness processes of the NGOs should be up to date and mature enough to manage any disaster.

·        The NGOs are required to work hand in hand with the state government for effective and timely reconciliation of the people affected by any disaster.

·        The NGOs should enormously participate as facilitators in the implementation of any state, government programs and policies for disaster management and risk mitigation.

Typical First Phase Response of Relief India Trust NGO in Disaster Management:
The response of an NGO in case of any emergency situation or disaster depends on the scale of the disaster. The NGOs always have to be ready with their Plan A, B and C to encounter any unforeseen emergency situation. In normal disastrous situation, people usually don’t have access to their homes and get in immediate need of shelter and food. The NGOs are required to facilitate them in every possible way. If they are not facilitated in time, then the situation might trigger a lot of viral diseases in the affected people which will result in another severe problem to counter by the NGO. In the first phase of disaster management, the Relief India Trust NGO has the following priorities in facilitating the affected people in a disaster occurrence:

·        Water – Supply of clean water to the affected people is highly desirable and should be provided as quickly as possible. There should be a good water distribution system in the camp so that people could easily get access to the basic necessity of life.

·        Sanitation – Sanitation facility is the next thing on the list for facilitating the affected people.

·        Food Supply – Food should be supplied in an organized manner along with the cooking kits

·        Shelter – Shelter for the affected people is critical to protect them from severe weather.

·        Medical Facility – Malaria and other viral diseases are very commonly triggered in the disaster camps and it requires services of a good medical staff to counter such diseases.

Relief India Trust is on a mission To Make This World a Better Place

There is this big tragedy of life, there are some lives that do not live as well as us; actually more than half of the Indian population comes in this category and lives below the line of poverty. All they need is a kick start, a chance at life so they could start working on their own, the Relief India Trust is an NGO that is striving to do that, to give them that one chance so they can live their lives as they hope to, as they want to because these people cannot get a chance on their own, they live in the gutter and will die in it. Being humans, we all have empathy and a dedicated portion of brain to run it, just so we could understand each other, so we could know what others are feeling, so we feel and help the distressed out of their troubles.

Life Isn’t Fair

We were all born equal and free, but those that live in the slums are not, they are slaves to their hunger and poverty. Even in a free nation, there are people who cannot do what they please, for whom life is not a bed of roses but a constant struggle for survival. The Relief India Trust believes Children should be playing, enjoying their childhood, but are almost devoid of innocence, instead of books to read, they have food to fight for, diseases to tackle and here we are sitting in our bed of roses waiting for the coffee to get ready, cursing the water if it is too cold or too hot. There is a man out there right now, with a disease that can be cured with one shot or pill, but he doesn’t know that he thinks he is cursed , he will die of the disease while we have our bathroom cabinets full of medicine that we hope never having to use.

Their Only Chance

We are the ‘happy’ part of the society, the portion without any troubles, it is us who have the surplus funds, time, energy and the will to care for them, it is us who must do it or we might lose the half of Indian population or worse; we may never fully gain them. Relief India Trust is a platform gathering the help, gathering the funds, gathering the supplies, gathering the manpower, gathering the donors and going down there to deliver the help to those who need it. This is their only chance as they cannot do anything as long as those worries, parasites, diseases and unawareness exists. Though they are working hard, the Relief India Trust is not the actual hero, it is you, the man who feels the urge to help and opens his wallet to give, or extends his arm to donate blood or who goes down there to create awareness. NGO’s cannot function without funds, the funds can only come from the government or the people supporting the cause.

There are many children out there suffering from various problems, including diseases, lack of decent clothing, housing, food, education and violation of their rights. Heart problems are among the many complications facing children and even the elderly in the society. Without quick and effective medical intervention, these complications may lead even to death. This thus calls for heart transplants which is an effective treatment method for such complications, but on the other hand very costly. Getting a healthy donor heart is not an easy task and this requires a lot of cash, which many children from less privileged families won’t afford. The medical procedure also demands expertise and professional skills for the exercise to be successful. There are quite a few hospitals in the world offering such medical help leave alone in India. Relief India Trust is a nonprofit making organization that has rolled out various programs to ensure all citizens facing such complications are helped and treated in the best way possible.

To start with, Relief India Trust ensures that the poor and less fortunate get the necessary funds needed to perform the processes. Being an expensive procedure, the poor and needy in society may not afford the treatment which eventually leads to heart failure. The trust, therefore avails the needed funds to the needy children and elderly so that the surgeries can be conducted. Willing volunteers are also contacted to help the patients with such problems by donating the required funds.

Relief India Trust also organizes for awareness campaigns for organ donation in every community to cut down the deficiency of such organs in various medical institutions. In such awareness camps, checkups are also carried out to help diagnose individuals with various health problems. Through such check ups, individuals with heart complications, among other medical conditions are identified and the right treatment is administered to the patients. It is in such medical camps that individuals with specific problems are identified and shortlisted for further attention in specific medical centers.
Once shortlisted and referred for a medical transplant or any form of treatment, the patients are taken through the pre-surgical process where they are prepared before going to theatre for real operation. For instance in the case of heart problems, the patients are prepared on various aspects regarding the use of a new heart and finding the donor for the same. Immune-suppressants are administered to the patients to determine compatibility of the organs before the transplant. All these processes are supported by ReliefIndia Trust by availing the necessary manpower of medical teams and nurses who will conduct the examinations. The nurses availed by the trust help the surgeons with the required equipment during surgery.

After surgery operations and attention is also not an easy task. In order for the patients to recover fully after the operation, critical attention needs to be given to the patients by the nurses availed by Relief India Trust. There are many workers who are availed to monitor the patients even after being discharged from hospital.

For the patients to adjust to the new organs transplanted to them, they need to be closely monitored by a team of experts hired by ReliefIndia Trust to ensure they recover well in time to continue with their normal life.
